Tesla opens India's first authorized body shop in Pune, adds Model Y test drives
Tesla opened its first Tesla-approved body shop in Pune, India, offering genuine-parts collision repair by trained technicians — the same day it launched test drives for the 2026 Model Y, as the company expands its sales and service footprint in the market.
Tesla has been expanding its store and service network across major Indian cities since formally entering the market last year.
The approved body shop that opened in Pune on July 28 offers genuine parts, software-aware diagnostics, and Tesla-standard collision repair and maintenance, aimed at cutting repair wait times for owners.
The same day, Tesla launched test drives for the 2026 Model Y in Pune and surrounding areas — the Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive starts at Rs 50.89 lakh with a WLTP-rated range of 500 km, 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, and 2,138 liters of cargo space, while the Model Y L starts at Rs 61.99 lakh with a 681 km range, 0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds, and 2,539 liters of cargo space.
High import duties have kept finished-vehicle prices steep and sales growth slow in India — building out service infrastructure is seen as the next step in establishing local trust.
